Ich durfte sechs Nächte bei Evelyn & Jan verbringen. Sowohl das Zimmer und der Essbereich als auch das ganze Rundherum waren toll. Speziell das Frühstück ist ein Highlight, weil es immer ein anderes Brot, einen anderen Saft oder einen anderen Aufschnitt gab. Aber eines war eine sichere Bank: Jans Signature-Gericht „Avocado on Toast“.

Vielen Dank, dass ihr mich so lieb betreut habt!

Ein kleines, wunderschönes Retreat mitten in Hout Bay. Evelyn und Jan - Eure Gastfreundschaft und Herzlichkeit ist wundervoll. Wir haben uns bei euch rundum wohlgefühlt …. Ob beim großartigen und vielfältigen Frühstück, oder bei guten Gesprächen mit einem Glas Wein am Abend mit Euch oder beim Relaxen in eurer Wohlfühloase im gemütlichen Innenhof am Pool. Es hat uns Freude gemacht bei euch zu sein, das Interieur zu genießen und uns ein Stückchen wie zu Hause in der Ferne zu fühlen. Lieben Dank wir empfehlen euch auf jeden Fall weiter. We recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at this beautiful, exceptionally well-equipped guesthouse, for the second time and I can honestly say it felt like a true home away from home.

From the moment we arrived, the warmth and genuine hospitality of the owners made all the difference. They welcome you not just as a guest, but as if you were an old friend returning home. Their kindness, attention to detail, and sincere care create an atmosphere that is both comforting and uplifting.

The guesthouse itself is stunning—tastefully decorated, impeccably maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Every detail has clearly been chosen with love and care, blending style with functionality in a way that makes you instantly feel at ease.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful — this was already our second time here, and once again it exceeded all expectations. The accommodation is beautiful and spacious, and the food is prepared with so much love — you can truly feel it in every detail.

What makes this place truly special are the conversations with Evelyne and Jan. They are incredibly warm, enriching, and always happy to help you create the most authentic and fulfilling South Africa experience possible. You never feel like “just a guest,” but genuinely welcomed and cared for.

Hout Bay is perfectly located — ideal for driving Chapman’s Peak, visiting Noordhoek, or exploring Boulders Beach. It’s the perfect base to explore the beauty of the Cape.

Wunderschöne Unterkunft mit viel Charme, sehr sauber, mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Die Gastgeber, Evelyne und Jan ließen keinen Wunsch offen, außergewöhnlich freundlich, kommunikativ und hilfsbereit – wir haben uns sofort willkommen gefühlt. Sehr gutes individuelles Frühstück. Exceptional experience at Bluemari. The rooms are world class as is the whole establishment. You cannot get better personal service .  Jan and Evelyne are exceptional hosts. If you want home away from home ( except much better ) than you have to book at Bluemari. The breakfasts are also simply amazing. We will definitely return. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 – Zuhause in der Ferne - ein Traum in Hout Bay - Capetown
Alles was man sich von einem Small Luxury Guesthouse erträumt, im Bluemari’s Retreat wird es erfüllt und übertroffen.
Angefangen bei den Gastgebern Evelyne und Jan, wahrlich passionierte Gastgeber. Sie kümmern sich mit soviel Herz, Charme und Aufmerksamkeit um ihre Gäste, dass man sich vom ersten Moment an wie zu Hause fühlt.
Auch alles im und ums Haus ist mit viel Liebe gemacht und zeichnet sich insbesondere durch stilvolles Design aus. Die Zimmer sind grosszügig, perfekt sauber und sehr schön eingerichtet. Die Liebe zum Detail zeigt sich z.B. im Bad, in dem in der Nacht mittels Bewegungsmelder ein indirektes Nachtlicht einschaltet. Oder bei der grossen Dusche mit Regenwasser- und Handbrause. Oder in der Tapete, die den Namen des Zimmers widerspiegelt (wir haben im Flamingo gewohnt). Und die Betten sind hervorragend, was nun wirklich nicht selbstverständlich ist. Da haben wir auf unserer einmonatigen Rundreise ganz anderes erlebt und nirgends besser geschlafen…
Es gab so viele Highlights, dass wir unmöglich alle aufzählen können. Das Frühstück verdient aber in jedem Fall eine besondere Erwähnung. Super-leckere, von Jan jeweils frisch zubereitete, Eierspeisen konkurrieren mit den von Evelyne selbstgemachten Konfitüren. Und frischgepresster Orangen- oder Grapefruitsaft ist halt schon was Wunderbares. Auch die hervorragenden, selbstgemachten Kekse, die jederzeit zur Verfügung stehen, wurden von uns in gebührender Menge genossen.
Kurzum, das Bluemari’s Retreat ist nicht einfach nur eine Unterkunft – es ist ein Zuhause in der Ferne, ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen, Entspannen und Geniessen. Für uns war es perfekt in jeder Hinsicht. Es gab nur einen «Negativpunkt»: wir mussten leider wieder abreisen ….. 😉
Wir geben ganz klar eine 10 von 10 und kommen auf jeden Fall im nächsten Jahr wieder. Absolute Empfehlung!
